Expect to face all the land-based safeguards like enhanced health and safety protocols, temperature checks, pre-embarkation mandatory COVID-19 tests, reduced shipboard capacity, closely-controlled shore excursions, and more.
Don’t Choose Based on Price
Cruise lines have their own personalities, strengths, and weaknesses. Though they may cost the same, some cruises are best suited for families, while others offer a better experience for affluent couples looking for a quiet, chic, and immersive experience. Reduced fares may also occur during shoulder season with cooler temperatures and choppy seas. Some luxury lines charge more upfront but offer excellent value.
Choose Your Cabin Carefully
The biggest ships can offer over 20 varieties of cabins, and you need to choose one that matches your personal cruising style. If you’re going to be spending most of your time in your suite, splurge on a comfortable one with a view or a private pool and deck. If you’re only going to be in there when you sleep, choose a less expensive option. Avoid noisy stateroom near or under the pool deck or nightclub.

Arrive early. Your cruise will not wait around for delayed flights. So, arrive at least a day before and stay in a hotel near the port of embarkation.

Your suitcase may arrive around dinnertime. So, keep all essentials that you may need for your first few hours on board in your carry-on. You may want to pack a change of clothes or some swimwear and sunscreen, phone charger, toiletries, documents, and kids essentials, in your carry-on.
